Sometimes as parents we make something simple, like a photoshoot, a very complicated and stressful time, especially for our children.   As I move into lifestyle portraiture, I am also helping  parents navigate into just letting their kids be kids during photos.  Teaching them that perfection is unnecessary and overrated.   That there should be no stress, no mess, no fuss.  As a stepping stone, I am offering a session that is just that!  No fuss about hair or clothing.  No tears.  No bribes.  Just come on over, let me work my magic and take pictures of them just as they are!

 

Sessions will take place in my home in North Raleigh, 27615.  15- minute slots staring at 11:00.   $50 retainer to hold your spot, balance is due day of session.  Minimum of 5 digital files.  Siblings are an additional $50 and will each get their own 15 minute session.   Please email to book!

Living with grace is what you learn when you share a room with your sisters.  Growing up I always shared a room.  We pulled hair and covers, but we also played games, pretended we were mermaids and had legs-in-the-air contests long past lights out.  At times I was the boss – oldest in the room letting my baby sister know which drawers were hers.  And sometimes I was the little sister, and boy did I know it!  So what did sharing a room teach me that I hope it teaches my daughters?  Where to start…

That we share.  That the value of things should never be put before the value of another’s feelings.  That we compromise.  Not everything will go your way every time.  Sometimes you have to step back and let another lead.  Friendship.  That companionship is priceless, and you should never take for granted the people that surround you.  Forgiveness.  You will feel on top of one another some days.  Some days you will be the cause of the chaos and some days you will be the victim.  Forgiveness will always be the answer, no matter what.  And lastly, although I know they will fight and will feel like they never have a moment to themselves,  that they will look back one day and realize how lucky they were to grow up so closely together.  And hopefully woven into their daily phone calls to one another they will laugh about the long nights and crazy days in the lavender bedroom.

Newborn minis are quickly gaining popularity among my clients.  It is a quick (one hour) way to capture those first few oh-so-fleeting moments within the first few weeks of brining baby home!  Don’t blink or you might just miss that newborn growing into a baby <3<3

I don’t know about you, but we LIVE at the pool.  So when the last day rolls around there is a bitter sweet feeling in the air.  School has already started but it is still so darn hot out.  I don’t bring my camera to the pool much but I was sure to bring it to capture our last afternoon in the water <3

We went to Topsail (pronounced ‘top-sil’ if you are a southerner!) for a weekend getaway and had a blast!  The kids and I set out to collect seashells that looked like the alphabet and the result is pretty cool :)  Can’t wait for next year!
